Today’s Forgiving Fridays: Accepting and Loving Myself as I Am

Forgiving Fridays banner facebook

Today is Forgiving Fridays & an opp for you to post about forgiveness – ANY DAY this week! YAY!  (See guidelines below ❤ ) It’s also my contribution to The Daily Post’s Photo Challenge, Evanescent, or an experience that holds meaning for me. Krista, I am truly learning that love is inside of me.

Today’s Forgiving Fridays is loving and accepting myself as I am.

I got really hurt feelings last night.

A person I love a lot didn’t want to stay on the phone with me, and I just got hurt.  I didn’t realize it until later, and first I just wanted to call back and say something.  Have you ever felt that way, like you just kept thinking of things to say?  When I realized that I was doing this, I stopped.  I took the time to center in my heart and asked what I really need.

Here’s what I got: accepting and loving myself exactly as I am.

I have been looking outside of myself so long for love, usually from men.  I did it with my Dad, with my ex-husband, and with other partners.  It is time to stop and say, enough.

The truth is, I am the only person who can give myself the love.  And those men can never live up to the expectations that I’ve set on giving this love to me, it’s not their job.

So here I go.

doing-something-a-little-different-sunset-d-quote-jan-8-2017_ink_liI accept and love myself as I am.  I know that I am beautiful.  I know that I am whole and complete.  I breathe in love, I breathe out love.  I forgive myself for judging myself for any and all ways that I don’t accept and love myself exactly as I am.  And I set myself free.

Last week, four bloggers contributed to Forgiving Fridays – beautiful posts!!

Maniparna of Scattered Thoughts wrote a gorgeous story on the kindness of true service.

Mary of HeartandSoul974 contributed an amazing post of how it feels to be kind to ourselves.

Pragalbha of Infinite Living gave us a poem (love her poetry) on the inner value of who she is.

Etta of Simple Etta D. shared the great value of forgiving in helping us go for what we want and living now.

For this week, I invite you to answer the following: How do you accept and love yourself What would you like to forgive?  You could post a poem, or a photo that helps you to forgive, or a quote on forgiveness, and you can also simply say, “I forgive”. Whatever connects for you. ❤

I love you.

Love, Debbie

    1. Oh, Brigid, thank you. I am quite grateful for what happened, and for my reaction – it opened me to a deep awareness that loving starts inside of me. Great example of everything as a blessing, huh? ❤

Thank you so much for your caring, and your love, Brigid. I really experience it – your presence is gorgeous! I love having you on my blog, and in all the other ways we connect. Blessings, Debbie 🙂 🙂

  2. Debbie, what a lovely forgiving fridays, again! I admire how you are always so great at sharing your story and feelings with it. I’m actually always looking forward to this new blogpost, it just learns me so much about love, forgiveness and acceptance. I have to say that I can have a hard time with sharing my feelings. That’s why I haven’t participated on a friday yet. I wanted to participate this week but I really had no inspiration and I had to do a lot for school. I hope I can participate in one of the upcoming weeks. Thank you for the invite! I wish you a lovely week! Love, Anne ♥

  3. I love it when the answers all come from within and reaffirm how much you know and how far you have traveled – you created your own affirmation too with all the words you needed at this time. Isn’t that just magical? Sending you love and blessings and we wish you a magical week ahead :o) xxx

  4. I love that you are choosing to love yourself. It is a choice that opens our hearts to others. I forgive myself for not being kind and understanding toward the mistakes I made this week. I am human and making mistakes is how I learn. Have a beautiful day.

  5. Thanks for being so honest Debbie! I just had lunch with someone who is very religious and she was saying that women should stop looking to men to be our everything; that’s not their role, but rather God’s role. We’re to lean on God and stop putting so much pressure on men. I tend to agree (to an extent) and I think it’s interesting that I should read your blog today, which touches on the same topic. Light and love to you my friend 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Rhonda. I was just talking with a client about how forgiveness starts within, which is such great news — because it means we can always forgive! Sending you many hugs and smiles. So glad you are here. Love love and more love, Debbie 🙂

  6. Hi Debbie, I would like to contribute to your blog. Perhaps share a blog that speaks to you from my page, or I could write a piece specifically.
Loving oneself. So important, sincerely. I think this is something that we all struggle with at times. My blog has helped me to ‘open up’ in several ways, and here’s how:
    1. Sharing my random thoughts.
    2. Sharing and embracing my lifestyle choices, that include my choice of what I think, what I wear, and my individuality including my sexuality. Being able to express is very powerful for me.
    3. Sharing my experiences through photographs, drawings and experiences.
So in terms of how this helps me love myself, as you have expressed it, is that I can be ok with what I am. Really. Blogging helps me to connect with others. My page is a place to be myself, and participation from others is optional.

    1. Yes definitely! That would be great. The best way to do this is to write a contribution for Forgiving Fridays, and I can share it in the next Forgiving Fridays post (just like I did in this one). Just include a ping back to my most recent post and #ForgivingFridays in your tags. Anything that inspires you to greater forgiveness, self acceptance, love, etc. Thank you for asking, and for following my blog! Blessings

      1. You can do it any day this week! I’m not at my computer right now, so I’ll get back to you on this once I am. Traveling at the moment! Easier to explain when at my laptop. Blessings 😊😊😊

      2. OK here we go! If you’ve never done a pingback, it is super simple. Just write a sentence or two where you mention forgiveness or that your post is a contribution to Forgiving Fridays. Then highlight the phrase that you’d like readers to click on to see my post. Then click on the icon that looks like a link. When you click on it, you’ll see a place to enter the link for my blog post. Here is the link to enter if helpful: https://forgivingconnects.com/2017/06/02/todays-forgiving-fridays-letting-go-of-blame/

Let me know if you have questions. It’s a privilege that you are contributing this post. Thank you !! And yay.
        🙂 Debbie

  7. I think forgiving and forgetting works as a remedy to a soul which is hurt. It also helps to move on.
All of your posts are so insightful and full of wisdom, Debbie. May your #ForgivingFridays series flourish more. Lots of love to you…<3

Thanks once again, dear Debbie… 🙂

    1. Oh Maniparna, I love this! ❤ My spiritual teacher J-R has talked about how the forgetting of it is an indication of the forgiving of it. I really appreciate your wisdom and also your love and well wishes for Forgiving Fridays. It's a project from my heart to connect folks & share about forgiveness! Many blessings, Debbie
