Today’s forgiving journal is about what makes me happy.
A dear blogger friend Nikki at A Kinder Way asked me to respond to some questions about what makes me happy.
Perfect, because I’m just judging where I’m at with this 🙂
What makes me happy is to have balance in my life. To look at trees. To work on projects that have heart for me. To witness people learning how to love. To have a really good ice cream cone.
I let myself get way out of balance in the past few weeks. This was made quite apparent to me in the simplest physical thing, my toe!

I pushed it with my running and got a huge blood blister on my third toe. There’s a whole story that goes with this, and suffice it to say that I finally stopped. Broke down, and had a good cry.
Time for forgiving:
1 – Self-forgiveness: I forgive myself for judging myself for pushing myself really hard this past few weeks. I forgive myself for judging that I’m doing it all on my own. I forgive all the rest too!
2 – Letting Go: I almost typed “Letting God”. That would have been appropriate.
3 – Gratitude: I am grateful for stopping my pattern of pushing it EARLY! I am grateful for visiting dear friends this weekend. I’m grateful for reading this beautiful book in my back garden tonight. THAT makes me happy.

I realize how much I play the victim in regards to happiness. That is, I say often that I don’t know what makes me happy. That’s not true. What I don’t always know is when to stop, relax, and read a book. So that’s exactly what I did tonight! Here’s my view from my garden (hey, I live in NY).

I love where I am. I love who I am. I love this blog. I love the spiritual organization I work with. And I love you. And our entire planet.
What makes me happy? Simply love. And learning how to enjoy it!
Love,
Debbie
ps – have you heard of the Happy Dance? It’s awesome – just click here to watch!
I love the happy dance! 🙂 Sorry to hear about your toe, but glad you found happy in relaxing with a book ❤

Thank you!! Yes, it’s a great dance, isn’t it? Always makes me happy when I do it.
Hey maybe instead of running for a bit, I can just dance the happy dance periodically during the day. 🙂
Blessings ❤

Oh gosh Nikki – I just realized that I took out the reference to you and the pingback! I’m sorry. 😦 I had some technical issues with this post, so I ended up redoing some of it and must have taken it out by accident. Blessings and thanks again for asking me to do this. I’m going to add it again now.

Hey Debbie, Great Post, What make us happy, we need to do more of that , we need to treasure each moment, and live full and bright lives, even when things are not so great. I have really made it my moto – be the change you want to see in the world and there is benefit in everything and – I am so much better for repeated saying these two to myself, especially there is benefit in everything first, when the situation is not great, then I say be the change…and it just helps me to rise above..
We should always be happy even if things aren’t great, because the tension of life only makes us ill and sucks all our energy.
Lovely post as always
Good Nite

For a long time I didn’t know what made me happy, but later I learned of all the things that did. You’re right, the challenge is making time for those things! It sounds like you are doing that, it will make life more meaningful.❤️

what an amazing, beautiful, and difficult concept for a blog. I need to keep a forgiveness journal for myself. 🙂

That sounds like a wonderful idea! 🙂 I used to have a forgiveness journal that I called my “Many Faces of Me” journal.
So glad that you are here…. thank you for posting, and many blessings — Debbie
