It’s the Last Money Mondays! Today’s Topic is the Gift of Ice Cream :)

self-forgivenessandmoneygroupmay-july

Hi everybody!

I started this Money Mondays blog series to offer fun, practical techniques to handle old stories about money and step into financial success.  We each have messages that we received when we were younger (e.g., about your value, ability to succeed, what money means, etc.), and Self-forgiveness is one of the most powerful keys I know to replace those beliefs to more positive ones.

I can’t think of a better way to wrap up this series than with this topic—receiving abundant gifts from the Universe.

As part of the class starting this Saturday, we’ll explore what stands in the way of you receiving support and how you can allow love to give fully to you. Here are a few questions for you:

What are gifts that you received throughout your life to help you get where you are today?

What is the impact on you from the help you received? Notice what happens inside of you when you write about this.

Pause and be still.  Ask for support to create more of what you truly want now.   What do you hear?

I encourage you to sit with yourself this week and journal your responses to the questions above.  Notice how help shows up in your day and how you react to this.  And allow yourself to slow down and open to receive the gifts in your life—and observe what happens when you do this!

I also want to thank you.  I have learned so much from each of you who read and comment on my blog posts.  You are always welcome to contact me and share more about your experience at info@forgivingconnects.com.

Here’s more on what I learned personally…..

Yesterday, I gave a talk to a group of women on Self-forgiveness.  We were circled around in the living room at a beautiful home in Hollywood Hills.  The owner of the home wasn’t feeling well, and she was laying down (this becomes important).

As we were getting started, a woman knocked on the door.  She wanted to speak to the owner of the house.  She ended up sharing how shoe used to own the home and needed to stop by and tell the owner how much she loved it—and that she just attended her mom’s funeral and wanted to bring the good of her mom to the new owner.

The owner got up to talk to her, and then ended up staying to hear what we were doing.  The women opened up about what upset them, and they received practical tips to do Self-forgiveness in their daily lives.  Afterward, the owner and I shared how perhaps the woman who knocked on the door was a gift that got her up for forgiveness.

These examples of grace show up regularly in my life.  When I look back, I had so many angels who helped me be where I am today, poised to leave my job (this week!) and extend my coaching practice.  For example….

My 8th Grade teacher gave up his lunch-time to talk to me at a time when I was struggling.  I had anorexia and he truly listened.  Once, he pulled me out of class and brought me to the cafeteria to eat.  Through his loving, I connected to the love inside of me.

My (now ex) husband came into my life at a time when I was ready to open to love.  He showed me what it could be like to be supported and cared for by a partner.  And, I watched him with his kids and how thoughtful he was—I was so touched, and it helped me to heal my own relationship with my Dad.

After my ex-husband and I got divorced, I looked for the best people to help me to manage my finances.  A part of my team was a stock manager, and he invested my money before the downturn in 2008.  A little voice inside (an angel?) said to get out now.  I did, and even though I lost a bit, I saved an incredible loss had I stayed in longer.

***

These are just a few examples of what’s available to all of us—the little miracles that are given to us and help us expand into more of who we are.  (And to help us let go when we don’t know how.) My encouragement to you, to me, and to all of us this week is to let the support in and fly!  For so many years, I felt so scared to live fully, that I wouldn’t be held as I take each step. .

Help is ALWAYS here and I know that now.  It gives to me unconditionally and that is a huge part of why I do this work, to “pay it forward” and offer the sacred opportunity to forgive.  And to see the good in YOU.

And a short story to top off the post: As I was driving back from the forgiveness workshop, I stopped at my favorite ice cream place.  I got curious about the server and asked him questions about his life.  It turns out he just moved to L.A. from NYC, right nearby where I used to live.  I gave him a few pointers for integrating into SoCal living and we smiled.  At the cash register, he gave me the ice cream and said, “It’s on me.”

I’d like to end with a beautiful quote by Rumi and a photo from my partner, David Sand. You can go to his website for another experience of the beauty and grace of this life.  (Visit http://www.davidsand.com).

“Give up to grace. The ocean takes care of each wave ’til it gets to shore.”

    1. You said it Anne. I woke up this morning and texted an accountability partner that I have and said how much sacredness I experience in doing this forgiveness work. I love you!

      1. Much Love dear Debbie.

My posts have drifted apart quite a bit, seemingly I am transitioning into a different phase of being 🙂 I will check with my latest post and make it a contribution if I haven’t already.

  1. Thank you for this beautiful post, Debbie. Yes, many of us are blessed with people coming along side to help us get to be where we are. I had the similar experience in 2008 with my finance, except the agent who managed my portfolio was not checking on my account every day. I did it myself for the last couple months before it crashed. I didn’t lose too much money.

  2. What a wonderful post, of the owner and person who used to own the house and of your connection with the ice cream man. I find when I reach out to others it fills my soul and I learn something new about myself. Blessings❤️🌈
