It’s Money Mondays! Today’s Topic is 1 + 1 Doesn’t Always Equal 2!

Hi everybody!

Welcome to Money Mondays.  This is a weekly post to explore how Self-forgiveness can assist you in releasing old stories about money and stepping into greater financial freedom.  I’m offering an online group in May on “Self-Forgiveness and Money”, so this is a great forum to play with techniques that we’ll use in the group—and hopefully, you’ll find tools to use in your own lives.

As part of the group, we’ll be choosing a financial project to complete over the 3 months. So for this Money Mondays, let’s talk about really slowing down to identify a project that has heart for you! Here are a few questions to ask yourself:

What is a project you could do over the next 3 months to make positive change, e.g., in your finances, job, etc?

If you were wildly successful, what would be happening in 3-6 months? (or a time frame of your choosing!)

Pause and be still.  Ask for inner guidance on what you truly want.  What do you hear?

I encourage you to sit with yourself this week and journal your responses to the questions above. And if you’re ready, join me and choose a project to start doing now.  You can do it.  🙂  Talk with me about the group for fantastic resources to get support along the way!

Stating what you want—and taking action toward that—can bring powerful, and often unexpectedly, results.  Over the last 3 months, I’ve been preparing to leave a job and expand my professional coaching practice.  It’s a big move for me, because the job I was doing felt steady and “secure” to me.

It’s uncomfortable.  And,  I’m taking action and having incredible wins—and a big surprise!

On Friday, I put in an offer to rent a BEAUTIFUL townhouse in the Pacific Palisades, which is a high-end location in Los Angeles.  It has a set up perfect for building my business.  (There’s a separate downstairs area for me to hold workshops and see clients—with an incredible view of the mountains.)  And, it’s a lovely place for my partner and I to live together, if we choose to do that.

I had no idea that I wanted to do this until I submitted the application!

What helped me get to this place was CHOOSING to do this project—creating a vision, taking action and believing in myself.  And, of course, if you’ve been reading my blog, I’m also working with limiting stories I’ve been telling myself that stand in the way.

I’ve let go of so many beliefs from childhood, from school, and from my marriage.  I forgave myself for the judgments I placed against myself and others, especially about my own value and fears I had on fully showing up in my life.  This allowed me to take decisive action on the townhouse from a place of strength and knowing.

And whether or not I get it (I find out later today!), I sent a message to me that I am worthy of investing in, and that I am saying YES to myself as a professional businesswoman capable of earning an incredible living.

I couldn’t have predicted that I’d here a few months ago, waiting to hear on this amazing townhouse.

I simply made the choice, and each step of the way I questioned the stories I was telling myself and learned from that.  Because sometimes, the doing of it does it!

Here’s one more resource for today with inspiration + tools to create your project:

It’s an interview with Liz Goldman, Executive Life and Business Coach.

In the video, Liz shares about how divorce was a big wake up call for her. She knew very little about her money situation through most of her marriage and wasn’t working once she had children.  After her divorce, she god clear on her goalsfinancial and otherwiseand began to take responsibility for her finances and nurture a now thriving coaching practice.

One of the things I LOVED about Liz’s story is that she slowed down to ask herself, “What do I really want?”, and she listened to the stories she was telling herself.  And questioned them again and again.  She used Self-forgiveness to get free from her judgments about her ex-husband, about money, and most importantly, about herself.

Her story offers keys for anyone who’s navigating a big life change and wants to shift their relationship with money.  It includes a live demo with Liz doing forgiveness!

Have a wonderful week!

Love, Debbie

    1. Kimberlee, you are a sweetheart. Thank you for your comment.

I didn’t get the house, and I allowed myself the time to grieve that. (In the past, I used to try pushing this down, not the greatest practice. 🙂 ) And, I’m excited to see what the Universe has in store for me—-it’s a big gift, I can feel it.

Happy Easter, Kimberlee. Know that I’m sending you love.
      Blessings,
      Debbie

  1. Leaving a job and working on expanding your coaching practice are huge steps, and that’s fantastic! I always love reading how someone is following their passion, taking a calculated risk and just going for it. You’ve made me reflect a little more because I don’t have a project, I don’t really know what the heck to do next; I think about it all the time, but perhaps not as consciously as I should (ie. always in the back of my mind fretting about having lost my job due to my health & not a clue how to move forward or what I can do, always worrying about it, but not going through it consciously). Great post, very encouraging & thought-provoking!

    1. Hi Caz,

Thank you! I love reading your comments, they have such great positive energy and caring.

Would you like to talk more about what’s next in your life? This is what I do all the time, and I’d be happy to listen. And ask some really good questions that may help you. If so, let me know, and forward me your email. (And if not, totally fine Caz.)

Have a wonderful rest of your Easter and Passover! Much loving.

      Blessings to you Caz.

  2. Aw that’s very kind of you, Debbie, thank you for the offer. I’d actually be interested to know how you got set up into the coaching ‘biz’. I have a first class Psych degree, but no coaching/counselling experience. It’s actually something I’d love to do and if I could do it self-employed, from home, that would be absolutely amazing, even if I had to do it part time because of my health. I just don’t think I could realistically do it given my lack of post-grad degree or experience. Anyway, ramble ramble… sorry. If you’re open to sharing how you got into it, that would be lovely. My email is invisiblyme@outlook.com 🙂
No rush – Happy Easter, I hope you’re having a lovely long weekend so far xx
