It’s Forgiving Fridays! A Change for 2019 and Choose The Beauty Within :)

Hi everyone,

Happy New Year!!

For 2019, I’m going to make a change to my blog.  I decided to do Forgiving Fridays once a month, instead of every week.  Originally, I started Forgiving Fridays to invite each one of us to forgive.  To let go of the beliefs and judgments that you place between you and seeing the beauty of your own face….and the face of everyone around you.

Self-forgiveness is one of the greatest keys to making peace with yourself.  I hope that #ForgivingFridays has assisted you to experience even a little more of the peace that’s always present.  The more you are aware of peace inside, what you see outside becomes beautiful.

Please keep posting for #ForgivingFridays!  I’ll share all of your posts on the 1st Friday of the month. They are WONDERFUL. 🙂

Starting this Monday, I’ll be doing another prompt called “Money Mondays”.  It’s an opportunity to change your relationship with money and what you want to create in your life.  Self-forgiveness is a powerful tool to let go of limiting beliefs that block you from that!  More soon.

For today, I invite you to see your own beauty.  Isn’t 2019 a great time to REALLY let go of whatever you put in the way of knowing who you are?  🙂  It is for me!!  I’m ready and all in!

Here’s a forgiveness exercise for you!

I invite you to ask yourself three questions:

What limiting message(s) did I receive when I was younger that I’m ready to let go of?

What can I do right now to forgive my judgments and get free of the old story?

What’s present for me now?  🙂

Here are my answers:

I woke up this morning thinking about my mom.  I saw her go in and out of hospitals with mental illness when I was a kid.  Right before my eyes, she would lose it.  (I could see her eyes change, it’s like she would get lost.)  I thought that she was taking her love away, and that somehow this was my fault. I was so hurt. So for years, I rejected myself and took my own love away from myself, so that no one else could do it first.  And I would never again need to experience the hurt I felt in those moments.

I’m aware that I haven’t fully dealt with my hurt toward my mom for not loving me the way I wanted.  God that was hard.  So once again (because it’s continual practice), I forgive myself for all the judgments I placed… for judging my mom for getting sick in front of my eyes, for judging her as a bad mom.  And I forgive myself for judging MYSELF for not wanting to be with the hurt inside of me and for taking my love away.

I’m aware right now of great peace, and the blessing of my mom in my life.  She actually loved me very much.  She did it her own way and was dealing with her own stuff.  I’m learning how to give everyone the freedom to express love however they want – knowing that love is inside of me and is everlasting.

To wrap up, here’s a wonderful Rumi quote for you.  In case you can’t read it – I’m still working on my photoshop skills – it’s: “That which God said to the Rose, and caused it to laugh in full-blown beauty. / He said to my heart, and made it a thousand times more beautiful.”

  • Have fun – you are awesome!

  1. Happy New Year! Blessed 2019! Wow! We have a lot in common besides our first names. My Mom had schizophrenia and I too thought that She didn’t Love me especially when I was younger. However She Loved me very much. Right before Daddy died in 1995 Mom finally got the proper treatment and medication for schizophrenia and She was better able to communicate Her intense Love for me and my brother Stephen. I had 3 good years with Mommy before she died in 1998. Every day I think about both my parents and realize as I get older how wonderfully Blessed I was.

As for Money Mondays all I can say is Great Minds think alike. I’ve been working on changing my relationship with money through encouraging, uplifting and inspiring videos on YouTube that address this subject. I began watching the Motivational videos featured on YouTube in earnest after retiring August last year 2018. I’m learning to manifest money through appreciation, gratitude and Thankfulness.

And, very cool on your changing your relationship with money. Yay! It can really help to get support to do that, especially with people who see you from a high perspective. Thanks for sharing your experience – and your keys for attracting money are awesome! Go, DeB.

  2. Happy NEw Year, Debbie. That is such a sad story about your Mum. I’d like to improve the relationship with my daughter as she is so aggressive towards me and it seems I can say or do nothing right. It’s not just me, others have noticed it as well.. I don’t bite back and just turn the other cheek so we don’t row. It makes me sad when I see other mothers with their daughters. So this year I am going to take her out and sit down and try and talk through her issues.

    1. This is such a poignant sharing, thank you! I acknowledge you for wanting to listen to your daughter – it sounds like you really care about her and the relationship. I actually worked with a client who had issues with her mom (who was in her 90s!). She did a lot of forgiveness and healing around that, especially regarding her relationship with herself. It improved her relationships with her mom, and also her own daughter. If you’d like to talk more, I’m happy to do that. And good luck!!
Blessings to you – and your family 🙂

  4. Money Mondays it is… We seem to have skipped Saturday and Sunday, but I am sure they will be very forgiving about that!

  6. Debbie, thank you for sharing about your mom and your pain. The pain a child feels when we don’t understand, stays with us a very long time. Your words and forgiveness are powerful. And the questions you ask have me contemplating my own childhood and whether or not I am still carrying some things that maybe I haven’t quite finished sorting through or forgiving. Powerful questions! Thank you. Happy New Year! Terri

    1. I so hear you and appreciate what you’re sharing. To me, you are doing such great work by being with yourself when you’re struggling to accept things – and you have such courage to express that. And, you don’t have to do this alone. I am happy to talk further, if that’s something you’d like to do. (My email is info@forgivingconnects.com.)

I love your poem! I love how honest you are – and yep, forgiveness is a continual practice, at least for me. Each step of the way can be a true blessing to love more even non-acceptance. 🙂

Have a wonderful rest of your week. Blessings — Debbie
