Today’s Forgiving Fridays: Letting Go of Pushing My Body

Happy New Year & Happy #ForgivingFridays everyone! Yay! This is an opportunity for you to let go and forgive & post about it ANY DAY this week! See guidelines below. ❤ You can post whatever inspires YOU to forgive and choose love.  Maybe it’s a poem, or a story or inspiring quote, or you can share how you listened to your body like I did.

Today’s Forgiving Fridays is Letting Go of Pushing My Body!

I hurt my toe a few weeks ago. I thought it was getting better, and I woke up on Monday and really looked at it. It was still pretty swollen.

So I went to the doctor.   Guess what?  It’s broken!

I’m an avid exerciser and this is very uncomfortable for me. I knew that I was overly rigid with exercise — I’ve had an intention to play with it more, which I hadn’t done much with up until now!

It’s an old habit that no longer serves me.  ❤ And I’m ready to let this go. I have a clear intention to love myself in this new way. And to take care of myself and really listen to what my body needs. And I’m doing it!

Since I found out, I have been taking SUCH good care of myself.

I bought myself flowers.

Letting Go of Pushing My Body buying roses

I made turmeric and ginger tea (they are both great for inflammation).

I played the piano.

I did a healing meditation just this morning!

Wow Did I Nurture Me Meister Eckhart April 21 2017

And most of all, I’m LOVING my body.  Which is absolutely amazing, because in the past, I would have panicked to watch my body get curvier and a little teensy bit more flabby.

❤ ❤ ❤

Do you know what this means?  I’m getting way better at embracing myself at a healthier weight, that may be more natural for me.  See, to me, this toe breaking is the best thing that ever could have happened to me.  It made me slow down and stop pushing myself.

It’s like I was trying to get to a finish line 🙂 that doesn’t exist. Time for Self-forgiveness:

I forgive myself for judging myself for pushing myself so hard with exercise.  I forgive myself for judging myself for working harder not smarter. 🙂  I forgive myself for judging myself as needing to prove my worth in any way, shape or form (no pun intended).  And what’s the truth?

The truth is that my body responds amazingly to exercise, and it can tell me what it needs if I only listen.  The truth is that I am really loving myself and doing great. The truth is worthiness doesn’t even start to touch the beauty of who I am ….  In fact, I am everything that I was searching to find, and I always was.

I am so excited to heal, to carve out sacred time to listen to my body, and to blossom in my natural energy and beauty.  ❤  I can see myself waking up each day with new eyes, open to the adventure of exercise — and living — that is true for me.  Guided by the Beloved of my heart.  Now that is a positive image to pull me into a brilliant future!

I am SO SO grateful for all of you who contribute to Forgiving Fridays.  I learn so much from you!  Here are this week’s contributions:

Etta of  Simply Etta D. shared her experience of self-awareness and connection from a 5-day loving meditation course.  It was profound for her – go Etta!

DeBorah of Roaming Urban Gypsy shared a gorgeous poem of the Beloved — it’s an outpouring of love for all humanity illustrating the beauty of each one of us. Thank you, DeB!

Pragalbha of Infinite Living wrote an exquisite poem on how we can live life with trust, opening our hearts, and so much more…. and receive the great gift of learning from it all. So courageous!

Frank of Poetry, Short Prose and Walking  contributed an incredible poem and he’s not sure what it means exactly.  To me, it’s a song of love from his heart. Such forgiveness and encouragement!

Miriam of Out An’ About gave us a wonderful song “Love is In the Air” and a personal sharing on how genuine love is in her own life.  Check out her morning practice of  breathing, gratitude, and affirmations!

And in case you missed it from last week: 🙂

Monique of Her Light Stays Light gave us an amazing post about her and her kids’ story of homelessness and the courage and gratitude that she walks with each day.  A first-time contributor – welcome!

And a blog post that I found inspiring today:

Emily of Zombie Flamingos  wrote a great post this morning with photos of her kitties.  She does this every Thursday and forgot yesterday.  Seeing these photos is so uplifting, what a positive image to open our hearts to love & forgiveness!

****

As I get back to exercise, how do I do it in a way that helps me be even more radiantly healthy and balanced?  I’m not 100% sure of the answer to that.  (I did check out a pilates studio!).  What I do know is this:  Forgiveness is a profound way to transform what I do on the outside by healing old patterns that hurt me inside.

I’d like to end with the quote from my tea bag from when I made myself turmeric tea – how perfect is this for a forgiveness coach (and student!)?

I love you.

Love,

Debbie

***This post is my contribution for The Daily Post’s Sweet and Frank’s Challenge, In My Life. 1. Thanks for this beautiful post and reminder, Debbie. It’s strange how sickness or injury can be an opportunity to return to a more self-forgiving mode. It can be a good coach in learning how to better self-nurture and self-forgive (even if I’m often an unwilling student!). Sorry to hear about the toe!! I do hope it feels better very soon – you’re taking very good care of both body and soul (I love the flowers!) and I’m sure that it will back to regular in no time. 🙂

    1. Oh thank you so much! I’m really glad to hear from you. You have an amazing presence on my blog. 🙂 I hear you about being the unwilling student. I keep practicing, reminding myself to choose love, to open to what my lessons are, and to love and accept my beautiful body exactly as it is – with confidence!

I hope all is well with you. Have a blessed weekend, Debbie

    1. Turmeric tea is great, Rhonda! I think it may be one of the few things that nutritionists agree on as healthy for the body 🙂 ❤ So glad that you started yoga class, and that you are walking. YES it's important to keep moving. My spiritual mentor says, "The doing of it does it." Thanks so much for your loving comment. Have a great weekend, and send my love to little Lois and your family. ~Debbie

  3. You gave me the widest smile with this post! I am delighted with resonance and agreement with your amazing perspectives. Healing is such a rich time, yet it comes from us being injured. Wish you a speedy recovery full of glorious gifts it brings!

    1. Oh Pragalbha, thank you for your love and empathy! You have such sweet and encouraging comments (and thanks also for your words on Facebook ❤ ) Isn't it Rumi, or maybe Hafiz, that says the broken parts are where the light can enter? So beautiful.

Thanks once again for your gorgeous poem contribution for #ForgivingFridays. It is amazing. Have a lovely weekend, Pragalbha. Blessings & love, Debbie

    1. Oh my gosh, Emily – so true!! 🙂 I love my toes, I love them. They really carry us in this world. Miss running a bit and also taking this opportunity to relax and open to the exercise that is supportive and natural for me now.

Glad your kitties were a part of #ForgivingFridays this week. So fun.

  5. Hi Debbie, isn’t it crazy how an injury and the act of accepting it changes us for the good? I’m like you in the way I denied being sick for six weeks. I really think that I had the flu and it turned into other illnesses. Even though I missed three days of work, I kept plugging on after and working like a dog instead of resting and healing. Yesterday I finally went to the drs….I have a sinus infection and a borderline ear infection. Yikes! Since then I’m taking my medicine, resting and accepting that this is good and the right direction. It’s such a coincidence that we are both going through this at the same time! Good for you for loving yourself and giving yourself the gift of slowing down! Love and blessings to you❤❤❤

    1. Wow, Mary, no kidding! Oh I’m so glad I wrote this post, then if only for you to read. How are you feeling? Sending you much healing Light and loving. Our bodies gives us messages all the time, don’t they, Mary? I’m so glad you commented and that you’re here at my blog. You uplift me each time you visit. Blessings of love, Debbie

      1. Hi Debbie, I’m much better, thank you. It took five days on meds to feel myself again. There is so much sickness around here that you can’t get away from it. How is your toe? I hope it’s healing. Your posts are wonderful and always touch my heart. Thanks for always ” greeting” me with love! Blessings and love to you,❤️❤️❤️

  6. Hi Debbie, take care of yourself and that poor toe! Being in tune with our bodies and attuned to the message that they are trying to get through to us is key to being your best. I also exercise quite a bit, and ran into the problem of a torn hamstring last year, which was a major set back. Rehabilitating these muscles has reminded me to listen carefully!

    Get well soon!

    1. Frank, thank you so much! It’s helpful to have a fellow exerciser to empathize and appreciate this experience, especially regarding being in tune with our bodies and the messages they are sharing with us. (and it’s fun to find out that you exercise a lot too.) Thanks as well for another amazing photo challenge — the themes are very powerful. Blessings to you & have a great week. Debbie

  7. I love this. As someone who’s been at war with her body most of my life I get how this permission to love and rest your body is cause for celebration. Hope your toe feels better soon. A broken toe is still no fun. 😉

    1. I’m so glad that this post touched you, E! And I appreciate what you share about struggling with your body (and saw the background from your wonderful post on your blog). One of the things you wrote there was “Make art, not war.” So perhaps your body can be a canvas! 🙂 Neat inspiration, huh? So glad you commented. Thanks for being here. Blessings, Debbie

  8. Ouch Debbie, but do you know what I truly think my friend. I honestly think that things happen for a reason, everything, and that just maybe this was a little wink from the Universe forcing you to slow down and embrace looking after yourself. Sometimes we forget to put ourselves first don’t we. And sometimes we push ourselves and our body just a little bit too hard. Hope your toe is healing and hope you’re taking good care of yourself. Stay well and blessed. Big hugs to you xo

    1. Miriam, thank you so much! I read your post, and I felt so held, like you were here holding my hand and smiling. YES, I can see the Universe winking and having fun with my toe broken….celebrating my opening heart and inviting me to love me even more than I do now. ❤ It's healing quite nicely, and I've been doing a healing meditation for myself in the shower sometimes.

Miriam, I hope you're well. Thanks again for your fantastic contribution to #ForgivingFridays. It touched me deeply. Have a beautiful rest of your week! Love, Debbie xoxo 🙂

  9. Ohhh nooo! It’s broken?! I’m so sorry. It’s crazy how something small like a toe can affect us when it’s not working properly. I always take properly functioning things for granted until they are broken and then realize how much I rely on them. Prayers for quick healing for you Debbie.

  10. I linked this post about having courage through anxiety and other mental health struggles to this week’s Forgiving Fridays.
    https://revivedwriter.wordpress.com/2018/02/17/indomitable/
Maybe it technically doesn’t have to do with forgiveness, but I have had a hard time forgiving myself for the times that I did “give in” to fear, anxiety, depression, etc. Sometimes, I feel unforgiveness for even having these “issues,” which I know is not fair, and I really try to have compassion for myself.

    1. Oh I am so moved by this. Of course it’s fine to link this to #ForgivingFridays! As I mentioned in my comment on your (awesome) post, there are no rules for this creative prompt except that it means something to you in regards to forgiving. ❤ Gorgeous post, and I acknowledge you for your courage to open to your own compassion. I'm honored to share it this week. Blessings Debbie

  11. Hello dear Debbie,
I thoroughly enjoyed watching your thoughts unfold before me in your post. To accept the gifts of your broken toe and to realise we don’t fall apart when we are out of action for a while is an amazing learning. I discovered the same thing with my back issue a year ago now and I now am much kinder on myself too. A gentle life is still a good one.
And how beautiful is this quote! I love it.
Thank you for sharing this really lovely post and keep looking after yourself as you described here dear Debbie…
    Hugs from Di 💐💕

It was truly a privilege to speak with you and I fully support your next steps, Di. You are courageous and I see you walking the perfect path of your heart-filled expression that is yours uniquely.
