Today’s Forgiving Fridays: A Fun 7 Days of Forgiveness!

Happy #ForgivingFridays everyone! Yay! This is an opportunity for you to share about forgiveness & post about it ANY DAY this week! See guidelines below. ❤ You can post a poem, a quote, or a photo (or even a tanka like one of this week’s contributors), or you can do a video like I did. Whatever inspires YOU to forgive and choose peace.

Today’s Forgiving Fridays is 7 Days of Forgiveness.

Next Thursday is the International Day of Peace.  I have a dream that each of us open to the peace inside of our hearts.  Forgiveness is such a great way to do this.

Here is what I know.  When I am upset about something, the origin of the issue is inside of me. Underneath the upset is hurt.  When I apply loving to the hurt, I begin to heal.

SO here is my inspiration.  What if we take the next 7 days, choose something we’re upset about, and do a simple process of forgiveness?  I love it!

St. Francis has a great quote, “A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows.”

Let’s open to forgive and allow that sunbeam to touch the places inside that hurt.

Here’s a video with what you can do! You’ll see 4 simple keys to help you 🙂 :

And here’s a photo for Frank’s photo challenge Dark –  plus a photo of a painting I did on the gorgeousness of love. Frank, forgiveness dispels so many shadows:

I am so excited.  If you’d like additional tips on forgiveness, the biggest thing I can say is to be willing and to keep asking questions to help you know your truth.

I am grateful for all of you who contribute to Forgiving Fridays.  I learn so much from you!  Here are this week’s contributions:

DeBorah of Roaming Urban Gypsy shared a group of photos on crescendo that reminds me how much music can help us expand into forgiveness and self-love.

Etta of  Simply Etta D. highlighted really powerful ways to be positive in the unknowing and to be authentic and real with ourselves and what’s going on.

Miriam of The Shower of Blessings shared her experience with chemo and how to live in a deep level of acceptance.  A first time contributor!

Pragalbha of Infinite Living wrote an exquisite poem on coming to terms with the anger inside in such a self-honoring and compassionate way  (I cried when I read it).

Xenia of Whippet Wisdom gave us a really cool tanka on the path from dusk to dawn and how expansive our steps can be.  Plus gorgeous photos of her dogs, Elvor and Pearl!

Stella of Giggles & Tales  had memories of her dad come forward and shared such a beautiful blog on how people supported her with their love and compassion.

And in case you missed it:

Ulli of Urban Liaisons created a thought provoking piece on how to let go and even to forgive in this world today – building bridges of peace.  A first time contributor!

****

I’ll end today with a poem I wrote this morning when I woke up.  It’s called “In the Now”.  See below.

I love us all so much.

Love, Debbie

***This post is my contribution for The Daily Post’s Flavorful and Frank’s Challenge, Dark.***

Here’s the poem I wrote this morning:

“In the Now”

What, oh silence, do

you roar, is it love? I can

NOT SEE. Please, oh,

can you lay out a

golden

BRICK. A+. That’s

what I

always got, + now here I

  1. An adult. Where

is that +? Ah, Beloved,

it is not the plus that

YOU seek, it is the

essence of love, what

otherwise it is the A,

+ that is a journey

to no where.

That is it, slow down,

breathe, put your

hand on your plus,

+ say, honey pie,

let me tell you something,

Ah it is attention

that you want. It is

now, in this moment,

that I love you.

  1. Beautiful Poem. We may search for the Yellow Brick Road and the Wizard of Oz but the change we seek begins with us. Here is a blog post featuring my Awesome Autism brother Stephen Palmer. Stephen is Forgiveness. His Autism gives him the special power to never hold grudges and always give people another chance. I have not reached my brother’s level. I’m way too cynical and jaded but my brother Stephen has taught me more about Love, Caring, Compassion, Forgiveness and Acceptance than anyone I know.

    1. Oh DeBorah thank you for sharing this exquisite post! I really get how Stephen is an inspiration for you to forgive and open your heart. I see you as having a big heart and such empathy for people. Take good care of yourself — I’ll add this post to Forgiving Fridays for this week. Great!! Love and blessings, DeBorah,

      1. Thanks. My personality will not change at this point in my life. Once burned. Twice shy. I write the people who hurt me off my list and don’t speak to them unless I’m forced to do so. When people show their true colors any former relationships we had end immediately because trust broken can’t be fixed.

    1. Thank you so much, Xenia! I’m glad you enjoyed the posts here – they are wonderful. Including yours 🙂 Your writing is full of peace and understanding and the joy of your beautiful Elvor and Pearl. (I’m a huge dog lover). Many blessings! ~Debbie

  2. “A single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows” I love that and believe it to be true. Love the poem, love your 7 days of forgiveness. We find it hard to forgive others because we find it hard to forgive ourselves.

    1. You said it, Etta! In the video, I forgive myself for judging someone else as controlling and then I forgive myself for judging MYSELF as controlling – because that’s where it starts. ❤ I am so glad you are here & contributing to Forgiving Fridays. Light and blessings to your weekend, Etta, and to bringing the Light to the shadows! 🙂 Debbie

  3. This is another wonderful Friday of forgiving, Debbie. Your poem is beautiful. I am sitting on my porch, listening to the rain and watching the sun and clouds play with each other. Nature is a magnificent healer, and also the magnificent presence to fill our hearts.

    1. Oh, Jennie, thank you so much! Glad you read and enjoyed the poem. 🙂 That made me smile.

I really hear you about nature. My experience of being in nature is so peaceful, and it attunes me more fully to the peace and Light inside of me. Sounds like you have a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the outdoors. So glad! Have a fantastic weekend, Jennie. Debbie

      1. Nature is peace, right there for us. I think it is the greatest healer and vessel of happiness. I will be sad when winter comes and I don’t have the porch to take in the sights and sounds. Best to you, Debbie!

I’m going to be moving into a new place today. It’s so peaceful (like being in nature yet inside ❤ ) Can you keep me and my apt in your prayers? Thank you so much.

  4. Hi Debbie,

A beautiful Sunday to you. What a wonderful subject to tackle this week. Forgiveness is one of the hardest things to do, whether it’s about forgiving ourselves or others who have offended us. But once we are able to pull that string of forgiveness, we purge ourselves of hatred and we experience a new lease of life within us. Thank you for a lovely video and a great poem, as always. 🙂

Here is my entry for this week. A call for prayers and supplications to God if we are in dire need of anything… Stay blessed and have a peaceful week ahead. Xoxo

    1. Miriam thank you so much. Your comments are so full of gentleness … and caring. I really appreciate you! I know I tell you that a lot, and it’s true. ❤ Have a gorgeous and lovely week, Miriam. I am sending big hugs from across the pond – truly you are the blessings (my spiritual teacher said that to me once, and even wrote a book on it).

      1. I recently watched a video by Greg Braden, who explains it in like two hours! Basically, it’s the concept that all relationships are mirrors of some kind. The seven Essenes explain which type of mirror you might be encountering. After watching it, it kind of helped me be less mad at people lol and to begin looking at WHY I’m angry at the behavior, because ultimately, (like we said) it’s probably just a reflection of something. Love and light to you ❤

  5. Lovely post and poem, Debbie! Thank you for the list of contributors! You’re right that when we’re upset about something, usually that is our secondary emotion, if we think deeply or with some help, we could identify the primary emotion which is the source of our hurt. A good direction for the post for your FF next week. Love you, Miriam

  6. Wonderful to see you’re still moving ahead with your insightful poetry Debbie! And I agree about being the beam of light. The Bible calls us to be light in the darkness as well. Waiting to hear if you’ve found a place to move ahead… Blessings friend. xox
