Today’s Forgiving Fridays: Walking My Own Talk!

Happy #ForgivingFridays everyone! Yay! This is an opportunity for you to share about forgiveness & post about it ANY DAY this week! See guidelines below. ❤ You can post a poem, a quote, or a photo (or even a travel blog like one of this week’s contributors), or you can write about walking your own talk like I did. Whatever inspires YOU to forgive and choose love.

***This post is my contribution for The Daily Post’s Structure and Frank’s Challenge, Blue. Frank, I used a few photos – a great affirmation plus the blue I wore on my “peace walk”!  🙂 ***

Today’s Forgiving Fridays is Walking My Own Talk.

I’ve been encouraging people to forgive, and in some ways I haven’t been walking my own talk.  I became quite aware of all the little things I do inside of me to choose right and wrong as my way of relating to this planet.

For example, Trump is wrong.  The environment must be saved (i.e., that is right).  My mom’s murder … that was really wrong.

So I went to the woods.

Seeing the structure of the trees calmed me.  It helped me see that I even viewed my choices as right and wrong, as anything less than beautiful.

The great thing about forgiveness is that I remind myself that it is ALL LOVE.  I am love.  I choose – again and again – to see this as true.  To add to this energy field that we create together when each one of us says, “I forgive.”  I forgive myself for placing any judgments against myself, this planet, and others.

I let it go and open to the experience of that.  I am aware of my heart opening, of more understanding, empathy and compassion. From that place inside of me, I can see more clearly how I want to be in this world, and how I want to be with myself.  Each time that I affirm love, I let go of an old way of seeing and let Spirit show me the way to love.

Walking My Own Talk - Debbie 2 Sept 1 2017That is such a nurturing & peaceful way to live!  Whatever I do (or don’t do), the consciousness I bring to it – is completely full of kindness and grace.

That’s what I’ve got for today.  I invite each one of us to pause right now and choose love, however you do that.  And take in the beauty of your love. Let yourself be loved. Because what else do you really need to do today? 🙂

I am grateful for all of you who contribute to Forgiving Fridays.  I learn so much from you!  Here are this week’s contributions:

DeBorah of Roaming Urban Gypsy gave us a gorgeous poem that has so much love and forgiveness through her words and unique style.

Andrea of Thriving Under Pressure contributed a great post on how taking a breath – really pausing to take a breath – can open us to great peace inside.  A first-time contributor!

Etta of  Simply Etta D. shared how to be the change we wish to see in others – what a powerful reference for owning our beauty!

Stella of Giggles & Tales  shared such a beautiful blog on bringing love and compassion to those people who are suffering inside and scared to share about it.

Xenia of Whippet Wisdom contributed a blessing she wrote for September that includes seeing the beauty of our own Souls and receiving it.  A first-time contributor!

Pragalbha of Infinite Living wrote an exquisite poem on showering us with love so we can experience our own beauty.

And here’s a great post I came across on kids and peace ❤ :

Jennie of A Teacher’s Reflections gifted us with a heartfelt sharing of her young students’ responses to “What is Peace?” – I learned so much!

I wrote a poem when I was on my peace walk this morning.  It is really short – and it’s a new beginning.  See below – and please feel free to share your creativity too.  The posts from last week are amazing!

I love you.

    1. Xenia thanks so much! The walk in the woods really helped me to center in my love and look at life rather than judge it. So much compassion in that perspective. Hope you and your beautiful dogs are well. 🙂 🙂 So glad you’re here — Blessings, Debbie
ps – the poetry is somewhat new for me! Glad you like it.

    1. Aww Jennie, thank you! It was so fun including you and your post on the way children see peace. Truly a heart-opening post for me. ❤ Peace is really on my mind now with the International Day of Peace coming up so soon. Lots of love to you and your kids, Jennie. 🙂 Blessings, Debbie

  1. There are just a few billion possibilities what may be the result of forgiveness, you are just describing one single here. However, without judgements there will be certainly no understanding of the world, and without understanding it will be difficult to change one’s views of the world or even the world itself. There are of course always things which can not be understood or explained, but that is a different story. Nice weekend!

  2. Hello dear Debbie,
What a beautiful wander through your gentle thoughts on treating yourself, and indeed treating ‘our’selves to the goodness of love and kindness no matter what is going on in our lives.
A small poem that says so much too. And as for your reminder while you were away…if that’s not a sign I don’t know what is.
Thank you thank you for being here for us lovely friend 💐🦋💜💜

    1. Oh, Di – I love your expression of my post with how you picked up about loving kindness and really treating ourselves to the best!! ❤ Thank you for being here. I am so glad we connected on WordPress. And you are going to have such a blessed experience in London – peace is present, right? Blessings to you, Di ❤ ❤ ❤ Debbie

ps — here's a great quote on peace that I love from John-Roger. Really moves me into an awareness of peace:

Do you want to know if peace exists? Then do the things that can get you to peace inside yourself. Do you have peace now? If not, then stop what you have been doing; you'll usually find that peace starts showing up. ~John-Roger, D.S.S.

  3. Such a profound thought Debbie, indeed we are missing the art of forgiving. The love of giving. We are so much mired in our daily grind and the agony of life we miss the wood for the forest. Letting it go and opening to the world of empathy and compassion which has suddenly become a rare commodity in our life and living…

Walking is something I love to do and do so religiously and get most of my ideas when I am on my brisk walk, and indeed as so beautifully portrayed by your lovely words in the poem, there is no end to the flow of thoughts and words in our mind and it gets a bout of fresh energy while we are on the job of walking and trigger a new beginning to our otherwise stagnated mind or staled thoughts…walking is a wonderful antidote to many ailments and agonies of life, it acts like an outlet to calm ourselves and build composure in life…
    Have a beautiful Sunday.

    1. Nihar, thanks for this beautiful comment! You sharing this is a blessing to my blog. I appreciate what you’re saying about walking and the inspiration it brings to you. I also have this experience, mostly when I go for a run. The movement helps me to let go of what no longer serves & opens me to a perspective of love and acceptance. So great. 🙂
Have a beautiful week, Nihar. Blessings of peace, Debbie

      1. There is this uncanny coincidence on walking, running with writing and enhancing our ability to think better and generate more creative ideas. Walking is such a wonderful engagement that needs nothing except our little time but what it give backs a treasure house of joy, ideas and feelings that makes us a better person both physically, mentally and spiritually.

Its been a pleasure knowing you and sharing such nice thoughts. Thanks Debbie and you too have a wonderful week ahead.

  4. Lovely post Debbie, as always. Love the poem. Walking in woods is so calming and tuning into nature helps us tune into spirit too. I feel at one, calm, and open to love and more loving too. You obviously live in a mindful way, aware of the impact our thoughts and actions have on others and the environment. If only Mr T could do the same!!!!!! Blessings for a wonderful week ahead 🙂 xx

Because what else do you really need to do today? ” It seems like it would be so easy to let someone love you. I must say it isn’t easy for me and that is something I am going to think abou this week. Sending love your way. Ali

      1. Thank you, just some very condensed ideas based on personal experience in my family, my former job, etc. I also attended a conflict management workshop some years ago which a lot of politicians in the world would badly require each day!

  7. Hi Debbie,

Great photo and a great poem as always.

And here is the link to my post. It’s all in tune with your reflections too. We have to be grateful for little things and the simple things we find in nature. And for the mercies, we receive as we wake up every day. 🙂

Much love to you Debbie! I hope you will have a wonderful Friday reveling in the blessings of God. E-hugs from my world. Xo

I was just writing my Forgiving Fridays for this week, and I’d left out asking for divine support from Spirit to help me in my next steps – I added it in because of YOUR blog here. Thank you. You have a beautiful gift of peace and kindness that you share. Yay!

I just shared your post. This is a privilege. Have a great weekend with blessings galore from God. 🙂 🙂 Love and Peace, Debbie
